An Unfinished Canvas
Congratulations to Phyllis Gobbell and Mike Glasgow. Their book
An Unfinished Canvas: A True Story of Love, Family and Murder in Nashville continues to do well. It ended the week of 14 October as #6 on the B&N Mass-Market True Crime Bestseller List, and #1 on the Bookscan Mass-Market True Crime Bestseller List.
A recent note from Phyllis (a writer colleague for many years), reports the book ended the year "at Amazon as #16 on the True Crime list and #14 on Murder and Mayhem. Considering all the titles out there, I am extremely pleased with those ratings."
She and Mike are still on the wanted list for author events. After starting with a successful run of local book signings, and a presentation at the 19th Annual Southern Festival of Books, they've been invited to several book clubs, the chapter meeting of Sisters in Crime, and in March to the Women's National Book Association. (Her note identified this org as WNBA; my sports-related brain thought, "Why would they be speaking to the Women's National Basketball Association?" Shame on me.)
Phyllis, the remaining founding member of Nashville Writers Alliance (still active in its 30th year), is juggling this with a full-time assistant professorship (in writing and literature, of course). In 2004, her short story "Primates," published by Bellevue Literary Review, was nominated for a Pushcart. She has projects in-waiting, if she can find the time.
