Promoting the New Book
I am up to my ears in book promotion for Blood and Bond.
I have a good press kit with author Q&A as well as the regular stuff; I added a readers guide for discussion groups. Once the publisher has the title posted on Amazon.com, I'll begin another round of PR. The Web site is pretty nice, too.
A secondary promotion has come from doing presentations that relate to my book titles. I received a call from the Montana Talking Book Library. They want me to record Spotted Flower and the Ponokomita. They got my name from someone who attended a presentation I did last month. The woman at MSTN was looking around my Web sites. Now she wants me to also record the SF book , Daughter of the Stone and the new title Blood and Bond
- Other avenues I've invested in:
- postcards to large mailing list. (The nice thing with postcards is that other people can read them as they travel through the USPS system).
- Special book price for discussion groups
- Listing at online books sites
The big drawback to this: I find it quite tedious to expend so much energy wagging my own tail. I was raised to be a stand-in-the-background person. But that's what modern-day authors must do for their book to be noticed.
