Diamond Solitaire

Diamond Solitaire © 1992 Peter Lovesey Soho Press, ISBN: 1569472920 PLOT: Peter Diamond has been fired from the police for insubordination; to stay working, he takes a job a security guard at a large department store.. There he finds a young Japanese girl after the store closes, who is never reported a missing and won't talk to anyone. He must identify her in order to save her life, a chore which takes him from England to Japan and back. Really well written, although the story got a bit farfetched at the end—almost as if the author were making fun of himself. Still a marvelously involved and told story.
