Buried Diamonds

Buried Diamonds April Henry © 2003 ISBN 0-312-30403-x Mystery. Series. Interesting story line. Written in third person, which I prefer. It almost seemed too complex a plot, but it was well developed. PLOT: Protagonist finds a ring in the mortar of an old wall. Her 80-year-old housemate knows to whom the ring belonged. They work together to determine how the ring got in the wall, and to prove that the original owner had been killed--fifty years earlier. This puts them both in jeopardy from the eccentric murderer. A lot of back story which gives an interesting picture of 1950s Portland. Characters were well drawn.
